Today this modern world reads, thinks and does all kind of yogic kriya’s and recognizes the importance of yoga in our daily life. However very few know who he was and what was his lineage. Some regard that he was born 150 years before Christ and some regard him that he lived 1500 years before that but they all agree that he was greatest exponent and compiler of yoga aphorism.
It is said that he was son of Rishi Angira and his mother name was Gonika. Gonika was very well versed with yoga principles and wanted worthy son who was capable of accepting her knowledge of yoga. One day when Gonika was bathing and offering water to Sun, being incarnation of adishesha; he appeared in handful of water held by her. She was surprised when this snake transformed into a man with folded hands. He pleaded her to accept him as his son.
Nothing can be verified about all these tales of Patanjali's birth and his likely domicile hence it symbolizes likeliness of his coming from a totally different sphere to give knowledge of yoga to the people of this earth. Some say he was born in India previously known as jambudwipa but for some his abode was not earth but ethereal and celestial abode. The most believed story is he was incarnation of adishesha. who had seven hoods. There is no doubt that with spirituality and transcendence of highest order, he had power to assume human form and turn again into spirit after giving his knowledge to the people.
His childhood was also extraordinary as he could communicate with people the moment he was born. The intensity of his mind was such that not only he could see pass, present and future but argued any topics of conversation with vigor among contemporary sagas, rishis and intellectual of his time with fluency revealing accurately the things of the ancient past and immediate future.
His contribution was not restricted to yoga aphorisms but was also master and great scholar of Sanskrit language. He refined this language and laid down rules of Sanskrit grammar which gave power to this language becoming more accurate, delicate, effective and creative. He married with a maiden called lolupa, whom he found in a hollow of a tree on mountain called Sumeru considered as the celestial mountain of enlightenment and lived to ripe old age. Beyond this nothing is known about him and whatever that is known, it is mired in myth
Given that he lived in the age of Vedas, he identified all the knowledge and compiled into sutras or threads presented in the form of aphorisms called Yoga Sutras widely recognized throughout ages. It is the finest example of presentation of sutras in aphorism style. There are total four chapters and 195 phrases easy to understand and memorize. There are fifty one sutras in Sadhana Pada, Fifty five in Vibhuti Pada, Thirty four in Kaivalya Pada and the balance in Samadhi Pada. Each chapter gives details about how one can master his feelings and thoughts particularly Sadhana Pada is important from practice point of view. In this chapter Patanjali stress eight limbs of yoga which an individual can practice to get higher level of awareness. This practice translates into mental power which is written in Vibhuti Pada. Kaivalya Pada is again about liberation one can achieve through yoga and lastly Samadhi Pada is the description of psychological state attained through enlightenment process.
There is uncertainty about which chapter he wrote himself as there is difference between the languages in these chapters also some may doubt about authenticity of these aphorism itself. But many people affirm the unity and the coherency in all the chapters taken together. Hence it is difficult to resolve this authenticity debate. What ever that is written every body agrees that all these chapters have great degree of homogeneity and consistency at all levels. Also what was previously an obscure and long drawn out abstract knowledge, Patanjali summarized it in an easy and practical way validating this knowledge through lives and experiences of practitioners making it an extremely practical manual for spiritual development and advancement. It is framework capable of gaining inner tranquility and attaining spiritual realization.

SAHASTRAR CHARKRA OR CROWN CHAKRA THE GATEWAY TO INFINITY
This is the seventh and the last chakra situated in the crown of the head. The name sahastrar stands for thousand and chakra stands for the convergence of one thousand important nerves flowing through our body. Intersecting with each other and forming huge plexus called brain. The body parts are attached to brain through nerves running all over the body making us conscious of all that is happening before us. It is also called lotus with one thousand petals. The bringing of consciousness at this chakra leads our awareness to infinity thus giving feeling of oneness of everything. It is here that we feel the timelessness. One can also experience the world of sound when meditating at this center.
The balance in this chakra makes a person balanced, creative and idealistic. They always strive for spiritual enlightenment and self realization without keeping any material gain for what they do. This gives meaning to their lives and that becomes their goal of life. Their thinking is always different from others and hence they are always misunderstood. The biggest quality they have is the quality of leadership and spiritual perfection. The more the challenges they face, the more they become self sacrificing. The imbalance makes the person more puzzled and unstable.
While meditating at this center, the enlightenment process starts with the awakening of this chakra. This process of awakening is bit complicated and not easy to understand. According to some sages, in some individual it awakens naturally but in most cases one needs years of years of concentration at mooladhar chakra. It starts with cosmic consciousness or serpent power or Kundalini shakti sleeping at the base of our vertebra suddenly awakening and traveling through a nerve called Sushumna. Passing through all six chakras as a ladder and uniting with Purusha or the satori residing in crown, this energy works at three levels i.e. physical, mental and energy level. But after transcendenting human existence these chakra are no longer required. At each level the human existence is different because of power he acquires to create a thing or substance.
It doesn’t happen in one day. Perhaps it takes years and years of meditation at Adnya chakra or third eye chakra which after passing through different stages ultimately gives the experience of enlightenment. There are many descriptions of this enlightenment experience or Samadhi which is not just one experience but a spiritual process where one experiences one’s development from form to formless in wide span of time. In fact I would call this process of detaching oneself from his ego and entering in the world beyond karma and their results. It is transcendental process where we get freedom from all ideas and thoughts. One gets freedom from one self from each level of existence.
It is also being said that all these seven chakras can be partially or fully awakened and the awakening need not be in sequence. Hence when Sahastrar chakra is fully awakened then one can experience inspiration one receives from God. He can see blue light from sky and enlightening him. It is the light which flows from heaven saturating his soul in each respect. It is this light which takes him to the realms of God where he can listen his voice. It is at this center the meditator experiences infinite bliss beyond his existence of ego. It is at this place one comes to know that he is birthless and so is deathless. He becomes one with infinite eternity and it enters into his consciousness that he is immortal. When he sees this moment that he has grown into infinity, the next moment he grows into eternity. The creation becomes one with creator. Once this is achieved, his existence remains for the benefits of other human being. They operate under divine will and entirely rely on God. They see other people and things as they are and accept them as the will of God. They never fall in the trap of karma and always strive to transcend them.

ADNYA CHAKRA-GATEWAY TO THE ENLIGHTENMENT LEVEL
This is the sixth chakra or plexus also called third eye chakra situated between two eyebrows. It is source of intuition and insight into the heart of the matter. The name Adnya stands for nyan or knowledge without any prejudice hence the name Adnya. It sees the matter as it is without any emotional colors. It is denoted by two lotus petals connected with each other by a triangle. There are many dimensions associated with this chakra. For example it connects physical world and the transcendental world together at this centre. The physical dimension can be termed as the things we see in this world and the truth associated with it. The cause and the effect or the karma and its phala are the two aspects of this physical world. The karma cannot be transcended without awakening of this chakra and the result which is hidden into that karma. Hence it is a kind of a passageway from lower level to higher level and higher level to lower level. A balanced and healthy Third Eye Chakra can make one orderly, clear sighted, faithful, fearless, practical, idealistic and highly intuitive whereas an imbalance in this chakra can make one thoughtless.
It is also a source of intuition and visualization. A person with this personality has higher wisdom and self awareness of higher order. They can penetrate heart of the matter and see the lies of others. They can be teachers, psychologist and artists, musicians, architects etc. They experience inner peace and can radiate positive energy wherever they go. They are intensely creative and it is a natural occurrence in them. They are pioneers in everything they do. The biggest challenge before them is losing contact with material world or distancing themselves from the others. This can lead to isolation and depression. They should seek balance between all the chakras. War free relationship and love in a natural way apart from their own interest is the best way to keep the balance with this world and the higher spiritual world without chakras.
Adnya chakra is the centre of higher intellectuality. It is here that one becomes detached observer of all the events of past life including those within the body and mind. When it is awakened, one can see the hidden essence and meaning underlying all the appearances and significance of symbols that flashes into one’s conscious perceptions. The law of cause and effect is bared. And the whole philosophical attitude and approach to life changes. It also activates the power of extra sensory perception to see the past life and future to come. The first thing one has to do is to get over and destroy undivine and dark past and hasten the golden future and manifest the present in a supremely fulfilling way. He then can experience the thing as he sees. He can become one with the thing. He can realize God in an illuminated form. Once the past is nullified, the future becomes immediate before him. He would come to know if he going to achieve anything in life in future. He need not have to wait for those years to come before him. Some times it is dangerous if the future is brought right into the immediate present. Some times it may puzzle him and could frighten him, if he is unable to control the power that comes within him. It is always dangerous to bring the future into immediate present. Let the present play its own role. Let the God will play its own role and then there is no danger. With the third eye one can accomplish many things as it has the ultimate power of god. If this power is misused then it may bring destruction but if it uses this transcendental power properly then it is a greatest blessing one can imagine.

REBIRTH AND THE LAW OF KARMA
What does it mean by reincarnation of a soul? Do we really reincarnate or what is the doctrine of rebirth. Most of the human race holds this belief that due to cyclic changes the soul discards the old body and after passing through several planes takes it resting place again to descent on earth among the same people known to him. This soul is considered to be indestructible and when it takes rebirth, he becomes unconscious of his previous births but proceeds to take new birth under law of attraction. It does contain memories and traits of his past life and hence as per strict divine law it attracts the body according to divine justice to take birth as per it traits. But does his old karma’s dissolve after taking this new birth? This theory says that the life which is taken by soul is not new but due to his previous existence on earth and the new birth gives him chance to transform. This transformation is nothing but cleansing process due to inheritance of past karmas. These karmas take shape sometimes at the time of birth but sometimes during its journey of life. There is no favoritism shown by divine law. The king may become a pauper and pauper may become a king. He may be beggar in this life but could become a king in next life.
This belief has hint not only in Greek, Egypt, and India but is also found in China, Africa and many parts of the world as well. It goes back some five thousand years ago in some countries and in some it is one thousand, two thousand and in some three thousand years. The ancient roman people believed that soul was very complex. It is indestructible. At the time of death, it is the body that gets destroyed but the balance portion called soul survives. This portion passes through different planes which are subtle and spiritual and remains in a state of bliss and purity to some extent. When their term of bliss gets complete, it returns back to take another birth to start its journey of life again to attain the life of fulfillment. The worthy soul may not take rebirth. It is also being believed that unworthy soul pass through the river, where they forget and do not have recollection of past earthy life. The laws of the higher world say that whatever action, thoughts or traits we possess in our former life; we get birth in those circumstances, environment and conditions. The Supreme Being is the authority who decides the fate taking into account the karmas of his former life. Those unblemished by material life rise and are given the state of bliss. But those who are guilty and tainted by the material world have to take rebirth and are allowed to rise step by step towards divinity. They are given new body so that they can attempt to get rid of these karmas. In doing so they are unaware of their previous birth but may sometimes get the flashes of recollection, intuition or an instinctive feeling of previous birth.
Christian Church also has guiding religious principles of that time that says soul is pure and the bodies are deceitful and impermanent. The soul enjoys the joy of freeing himself from the prison of the body after the death. After much of migrations from one body to another and rebirths after rebirths, it attains perfection. Some may call it as punishment but some may see it as a way of perfection of soul. The absolute matter from where the soul originates returns back to it in perfect bliss to the place called highest divine kingdom.
In India this doctrine was held in high esteem when the human race was still in Stone Age stage of existence and its foundation were laid four thousand years ago by religious thinkers, philosophers and great rishis. These philosophers firmly established their philosophies and fundamental thoughts in the form of writing in Upanishad and Vedas also people at that time firmly believed them and accepted them as fact. Even today most Hindus and Muslims firmly believe the truth of soul and carried out acts as per religious adherence to fulfill the last wishes of the departed soul. They also believed that present life is step towards purification process of the soul. Today this process has become more complicated dominated by various ceremonials, rituals, cults and creeds sacrificing the original simple form of worship of one life denoting the spirit of nature. Adhering to this modern form is still the fundamental idea of rebirth of the soul being one with the purest form.
There are several references in religious books to the doctrine of rebirth especially in Bhagavad-Gita where Krishna says to Arjuna” There was not a time when you or I were not there. Nor we going to be remain permanent in this world. As the soul understand this material body which experiences infancy, adulthood and old age, which it discards and pass on to the new body in the form of rebirth. It will again live and play its own part. Hence the spirit of a man neither takes birth nor does it die. It is eternal. As the man throws his old garments and wears new, this spirit throws this old body and wears new bright one. You and I have taken many births but the difference is you remember none and I am conscious of all of them.”
It is said in Mahabharat that even if the soul takes new birth, he has to avoid the path of hell and should work out the path of salvation.

EVERYTHING IN THIS UNIVERSE CONTAIN ENERGY
We all live in this world which consists of solar system where sun is the nucleus around which other planets are revolving in different orbits. Though the solar system was created billions of years ago, it is matter of debate for scientists around the globe as to when this life form can into existence. With evolution of time it has been established that life form came into existence in the form of fish in ocean. From then onwards, various creatures took life form along with vegetation, plants, flora and Fauna. Slowly and slowly human life took form with various shapes and colors irrespective of religion they followed and then slowly and slowly language of communication was born with each word giving understanding and meaning to an emotion that directly shape our destiny. Such is the power of word that they can change human life, because of emotions and meaning associated with it.
“My life is full of heaven”
“Life has become hell for me”
“I am feeling low”
“Today I am really happy”
“I have become emotionless”
Above sentences are some of the examples of words that carry emotions which bring out some meaning. Not only words, everything in this universe is symbolic and these symbols are so powerful that millions of people experience direct impact on their way of life. Take for example swastika symbol which is nothing but two lines of equal length intersecting each other in 90 degrees, with four smaller lines drawn at their end indicating clockwise movement of the symbol. This symbol is not only revered by millions of Hindus for its positive energy that they paint it outside their doors as a metaphor for its auspicious nature.
Symbols evoke emotional response and bring direct impact on human behavior. Not only words but symbols could be images, sounds, objects and actions. Words contain more meaning and emotional intensity because of sound energy associated with it. Images contain light energy. Not only that there is energy of smell, taste and the energy directly released by the object itself. The last is the energy of thought produced by mind and which is most superior of all.
These energies directly communicate with the conscious energy emitted by our mind and their impact which brings awareness to our conscious mind is called emotions. It is like radio frequency with a particular wavelength. Each object or any abstract thing has his radius of influence and if our conscious energy comes within that radius, we get certain understanding about the object. It is a basic process of learning through these powers as energy generally speaks in its language of frequencies and wavelength associated with the objects, words, images or actions. This learning process is through the power of mind or energies of mind.
In earlier days, astrologers used astrological charts to describe our solar systems and their direct impact on human lives. Today our physicists are using solar system as a metaphor to explain their relationship with electrons, protons and neutrons in the formation of matter. Their proposition holds good to explain that every matter has a nucleus and the electrons are revolving around them in an orbit in similar way as the planets are revolving around sun. These electrons do not maintain equi-distance and their orbit also varies from the nucleus. This resulted into understanding of atomic energy which we feel through our conscious energy throughout our life till we are alive.

अरमानो की दास्तान-A poem

A poem
